This page will be updated at any time with the latest information.

Part 1: Introductory speeches (10:40~12:20)

Senior speakers will introduce the experiences their technical field on how they apply the cutting-edge research outcome to codes & standards and regulations. In particular, the experiences on updating the natural hazards and/or extending the design target towards BDBA (Beyond Design Basis Event) are expected.

Speakers:

-             Dr. E. Viallet (Électricité de France (EDF))

R&D results toward practical applications for external events: Sharing some views about current status and future prospects.

-             Dr. T. Nitheanandan (Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC))

Strengthening Codes and Regulations Through Research and Development for Beyond Design Basis Accidents.

-             Dr. N. Chokshi (ex. U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC))

Evolution of Risk-Informed Seismic Design Concepts

-             Prof. N. Kasahara (The University of Tokyo)

Next Generation Structural Mechanics to enhance safety performance

Part 2: Future vision of structural, seismic, and geo engineering (13:30~16:00)

Younger speakers will introduce their current research activities, especially focusing on the elemental technologies for improving codes & standards, regulatory requirements and their applications, and modification of design, and the renewal of safety assessments. They are also requested to prepare one slides for their own vision for the future technology improvement.  This project will evolve to SMiRT-27 in coordination with the Early Career Program.

Speakers:

-             Dr. Wataru Hotta (Taisei Corporation)

-             Prof. Bu Seog Ju (Kyung Hee University)

-             Dr. Satoshi Okajima (Japan Atomic Energy Agency)

-             Dr. Kisaburo Azuma (Nuclear Regulation Authority)

-             Mr. Hideki Kaida (Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry)

-             Dr. Benjamin Richard (Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety)
